FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
What is the
difference between a snowcoach tour and a snowmobile tour?
Our snowcoach tours offer clean,
comfortable seating in a heated luxury touring coach. Our
naturalist guides are all very educated and passionate about
Yellowstone National Park and they offer a fun interpretive tour for
your enjoyment. You have the opportunity to view the scenery
and wildlife without the worry of driving your own vehicle. We
can arrange a snowmobile tour for you as well. Your guide will
provide interpretive information at the various stops along the way.
Should I Snowcoach or
Snowmobile in Yellowstone?
According to Yellowstone Park Winter
visitor statistics, snowcoach tours are quickly becoming the most
popular way to visit Yellowstone. A combination of lower cost,
greater comfort, commanding views, and opportunities to learn about
Yellowstone is inspiring more visitors to choose snowcoach tours as
their preferred way to experience Yellowstone.
Freedom: With easy communication with your guide, you can still stop
when you want to for photo opportunities.
Affordability: Snowcoach tours are under $100 per person,
private tours can be even less.
Comfort: Warm and cozy, even in the coldest weather.
Guaranteed Access: Regardless of snow conditions, snowcoach access
is available.
Experience: The interpretative information given on snowcoach tours
is interesting, educational and FUN.
Group Friendly: Larger coaches can accommodate up to 32 passengers.
Family Friendly: Easy communication and interaction with each other.
When do your tours
start and what are your pickup locations?
We start picking people up at local
motels at 8:00am. You are also welcome to meet us at our lobby
at 8:15am. Our guides try to be in the park by approximately
8:45am and will return at approximately 4:30 - 5:00pm.
Is there any opportunity
to cross country ski on any of your tours?
When making reservations, let us know of
your intention to ski and we will make sure you are on a coach
equipped with a ski rack. There is an area not far from Old
Faithful where we could drop your party, so you could ski to and
meet the rest of the tour at Old Faithful. There are many ski
trails in the Old Faithful area ranging from easy to more difficult.
We could help you create a custom Cross County Ski Tour that would
meet the needs of any group.
Can we do both tours in
one day? Due to the
shortness of winter days, we offer one destination for each tour.
The distances in the park between the Canyon and Old Faithful are
too great for us to be able to visit both in one day and be able to
adequately see all the interesting places in the park in winter.
We do offer a custom tour, in the event you are interested in making
your own itinerary.
What is your winter
season and can I go into the park all year?
Yellowstone National Park opens for
winter activities in mid-December and closes in mid-March.
Tours into the park depend on these opening and closing dates and
weather conditions.
What is there to do
outside the park? We have
over 300 miles of groomed snowmobile trails outside and adjacent to
Yellowstone National Park available for snowmobiling from early
December through mid April. You will see wonderful views of
our surrounding mountains, see the headwaters of the Henry's Fork of
the Snake River, see wildlife and ride over the Continental Divide
at Two Top Mountain. There are several unique opportunities in
West Yellowstone for those who come in early from their day of
snowmobiling. You can visit the Grizzly Discovery Center and
see live grizzly bears and a wolf pack, catch a movie at our local
Imax Theater and shop at West Yellowstone's many unique shops for
gifts to take home. The world renown Rendezvous skie trails
are located just across the street from our lobby. |
